South Tampa Neighborhoods

Virginia Park & Palma Ceia West

Overview

At the heart of South Tampa lies Virginia Park. It is a neighborhood regarded by many as the most unique part of the city. It is bordered by Palma Ceia to the east, Quiet European-esque Sunset Park & Sunset Isles lie to the west with Modest Fair Oaks to the south.

Numerous families from all over are captivated by its parks, recreational centers, its highly rated public schools, fast growing number of private schools, the Maryland Manor and the Virginia Park. Maryland Manor and Virginia Park are at the center of the city, a quick commute to the airport and the surrounding beaches and communities to the east and west respectively. This makes it a popular choice amongst professionals in the Tampa area.

Maryland Manor is bordered by Manhattan Avenue to the west, Santiago Street/Palmira Avenue to the north, Vasconia Street and Lois Avenue/Grady Avenue to the south and east respectively. Virginia Park borders Dale Mabry Highway/Himes Avenue to the east, to the west was Manhattan Avenue, and to the south is the Euclid Avenue while the Palmira Avenue/Bay down to Bay Boulevard is to the north.

Just after the Second Great War, the area now called Maryland Manor was uninhabited with most part of it teeming with pine trees. The economic boom after the war witnessed a surging demand for real estate in Tampa and which resulted in the felling of most pine trees and preparing the land for development. Maryland Manor finally emerged in the 1950s. Maryland Manor and Virginia Park’s location at the center of Tampa gives it a fantastic mix of architecture like bungalows, ranch style homes, postage-stamp brick homes, and custom-made upscale homes.
